On this Day: Croatian Independence Internationally Recognized

Today we remember all those who advocated and protested for the freedom of our Homeland. Exactly 28 years ago, the international community recognized Croatia as an independent nation. This is a day of self-determination, a day for which our ancestors yearned.

As Franjo Tuđman personally stated in his speech on the 15th of January, 1992:

“Ahead of us is the task that [Croatia] needs to prove how she can be a great and wise nation in her own freedom. On her own, for her interest of the well-being and happiness of all her citizens.”
